Section 39 (1) (b) of the Alberta Utilities Commission Act (AUCA) requires that the MSA undertake activities to address contraventions of ISO Rules, reliability standards, or other enactment. The MSA has developed an Investigation and Enforcement Process Document in consultation with industry stakeholders. This process sets out the procedures followed to review and address such matters beginning with a self report, or referral of a matter to the MSA, through to a possible outcome of forbearance, specified penalty, or application to the AUC for administrative penalty.
